After I left school, I worked for three years in what was then the State Hydro Electricity Department in Nelson, first as a Clerical Cadet and then as a Clerk
In 1958 I went to Christchurch to the Teacher's College as a Division A Student, returning to Nelson in 1960 for my Probationary Assistant Year. I taught in various schools on the West Coast and the North Island before returning to the Buller before I finally retired from teaching.
